With settling in comes a repeated routine. Run in the morning, beach in the afternoon, lunch at grandma’s, reading, dinner, and whatever pastry my aunt has concocted that day (we’re still munching on that amazing chocolate cake). Seeing the same pictures gets boring and in the end, doesn’t teach me as much as trying new things. On another note, I’m a HUGE softy when it comes to animals, especially dogs. My aunt and grandpa have sibling pups (Star and Liza) that are just the sweetest things. The dog lover in me is saddened watching them tied up on a 3 foot leash in the blistering sun with a small dog house for shelter and practically no play time. They’re not neglecting, don’t get me wrong, things are just done differently here. Pets aren’t kept in the house or coddled, they’re animals. A part of me wonders what their faces would look like should they see my dogs hop on the couch (never mind our bed!) if/when they come visit us in America. My aunt’s dog, Star, loved the attention he ended up getting from me in order to take some pictures. More than happy to sit for me – knowing he’d get a good scratch out of it – I managed to get a few sweet moments out of him.
There’s another little fellow that barely gets noticed but is just as beautiful. Chief is this chatty little bird my aunt has that was extremely camera shy. Any time I made a move he flapped his wings or jumped! I couldn’t get many good shots as a result but I’m determined to get an amazing one of him before I leave. Fingers crossed maybe OUT of his cage?
This one makes me laugh. It’s like he’s winking at me. 😉
