I have come to realize that sometimes, I get so caught up in capturing moments that I can forget to be a part of them. So this morning, I took my nook and a chair and walked to the beach. There’s something so grounding about being alone with your thoughts and no “real” technology or camera (my nook doesn’t count, I see it as a digital book, no access to the internet or people). Everyone who knows me well, knows how much of a worrier I can be – this was definitely the calm I needed for myself.
Maria, on the other hand, can’t stop moving. Today was no exception. She definitely loves being the center of attention and asked me to take photos of her while she danced. Boy does she love to dance! For only being 3, she has this amazing focus about her while she dances and pure joy in her eyes. It’s funny to watch and definitely made from some great photos.
Along with spending time with family, I have set out on a vendetta to eat all the things I’ve craved over the years that can’t be replicated in America. Ygavros (it’s weird but that’s the best way I can try to translate the way it’s said) is my absolute FAVORITE kind of fish, and I haven’t been able to find exactly what it is in the states. Greeks circle their days around the meals, and today was a very “typical” lunch with Greek salad (of course) picked straight from my grandparent’s garden and a pasta pita I’ve never had before that I can’t wait to attempt to make for everyone back home!
