The 7 hour difference is slowly but surely getting to me which has left me a bit behind on posting leaving me to create a mega post of 2 days!
As soon as we got in yesterday we drove up to my grandmother’s house, had lunch, then tried to make up some sleep lost on the plane. We walked back down from my aunt’s to my grandparent’s after where we got to see their chickens along the way. My youngest cousin, Maria, whom I’m meeting for the first time, has proved to be a fun girl to photograph. She has the funniest facial expressions. Between getting to reminisce walking through the same garden my grandmother has had for as long as I can remember, and the food I’ve been craving for years,it’s excited to capture all the things I’ve only been able to tell people about.
Today was a calmer pace, with walking to the beach and watching my cousins snorkel. Maria has taken to my mom and even convinced her to go swimming! If you google Nafpaktos, you instantly find the castle/fort that remains from the 1300s. Within the castle is a small church, St. Ilias, which happens to celebrate it’s saint’s name day today. We made the trek up for the service and got the best seat in the house to see all of the city below.
